Understanding a product

The score out of 10, the evaluation, the ingredient flags and the nutrition numbers on a product's page.

Watsin’s scores, flags and answers are generated by AI and can be wrong or incomplete. They are not medical, dietary or allergy advice. Always read the label on the package, especially if you have an allergy or intolerance. See section 5 of the Terms of Use.

When Watsin has found a product, its page slides up. Drag it up to see everything, or down to get back to the chat.

Score and evaluation

At the top, under the product’s name, are four numbers for your portion: calories, protein, carbs and fats. Below them Watsin writes a short evaluation and gives the product a score from 1 to 10.

While Watsin is working you’ll see Evaluating…. If you see Unlock product evaluation, you’re out of credits; tap Get unlimited or see Plans, credits and billing.

Tap Tell me more under the score for a longer explanation you can ask follow-up questions about. See Conversations and Threads.

Ingredients and flags

Each ingredient is shown as a chip. Watsin checks every ingredient against your profile and marks the ones that may matter to you:

When something is flagged, a key above the list reads Flagged for your profile · Serious · Mild. If your profile is empty, Watsin flags common allergens and potentially problematic additives instead.

Some ingredients are made of other ingredients, like a mayonnaise in a sandwich. These appear in a box with the ingredient’s name and how many ingredients it contains, and each of those has its own chip and its own flag.

Tap any chip and Watsin explains in the chat what the ingredient is.

A missing flag does not mean an ingredient or product is safe for you. Watsin can miss an ingredient, misread a label or not know about “may contain” warnings. Always check the package.

Flags and explanations use credits (they’re included in Watsin Unlimited). Without credits, the ingredients are shown without colours.

Nutrition

Food labels give nutrition per 100 g. Watsin shows it for the portion you choose, starting at 100 g.

When something looks wrong

Use Re-scan to correct the details from new label photos, or Report this product to tell us. Both are explained in Scanning a product.
