Getting started
Create your account, sign in with an email code and find your way around Watsin.
Watsin reads grocery labels for you. Point your iPhone’s camera at a product and Watsin finds its ingredients and nutrition, flags the ingredients that matter for your diet and allergies, and gives the product a score from 1 to 10. You can ask questions about it in the chat.
Watsin works on iPhone with iOS 26 or later, in English and Estonian.
Create an account
- Open Watsin. Under “Don’t have an account?”, tap Create one here.
- Enter your name and email address. If a friend invited you or you have a coupon, type the code in Coupon (optional).
- Tick the box to accept the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy, then tap Create account.
- Check your email for a message from Watsin with a 6-digit code, and type it on the Check your email screen. Watsin signs you in as soon as the last digit is in.
There is no password to remember. Instead of typing the code, you can also tap Sign in to Watsin in the email, on the iPhone where you asked for the code.
- On the sign-in screen, enter your email address and tap Send login code.
- Type the 6-digit code from the email.
A code works once and expires after 60 minutes. If it doesn’t arrive, see Account and privacy.
Find your way around
Watsin opens on the chat, with the camera view blurred behind it. At the bottom of the screen is a bar with the chat box and five buttons:
- On the left: the menu (your saved products, saved conversations, credits and subscription), Profile and Help (these pages).
- On the right: Products opens the product you’re looking at, or your saved products if none is open. Messages opens the conversation you’re in, or your saved conversations.
Just above the bar are two round buttons:
- The orb on the left. Tap it to start typing a question. It animates while Watsin is working on an answer.
- The camera button on the right. Tap it to start scanning. While you scan it shows a chat bubble; tap it again to go back to the chat.
Scan your first product
- Tap the camera button. The first time, allow Watsin to use the camera.
- Point the camera at the front of a package and tap the big round shutter button.
- Follow the card at the top of the screen. It always says what Watsin needs next.
When Watsin has found the product, its page slides up with the score, ingredients and nutrition. Scanning a product explains every step, and Understanding a product explains the page.
Tell Watsin about yourself
Add your dietary preferences, foods to avoid and allergies in your profile, so the score and the ingredient flags are about you.
What’s free
Scanning is free. AI features such as the score, ingredient flags and chat use credits, and every new account starts with some free credits. See Plans, credits and billing.
Watsin’s answers are generated by AI and can be wrong. Always check the label on the package, especially for allergies.
